Screening of broodstock prior to spawning and/or early postlarval shrimp prior to pond stocking for the pathogen IHHNV could prove highly profitable, simply by excluding high load stocks from production. A new study by Sellars et al 2019* demonstrates an increase in value by AU $67,000/ha by stocking only low load or no load IHHNV Black Tiger shrimp postlarvae.
